Buying A domain

There are many forms of hobbies and business these days. With the expanding world of social media and the internet, many people use these outlets as a way to make a living or just a side income. If you are interested in a blogging website, you can easily get away with using a free website builder like a siterubix website.

If you are interested in creating a website that you can monetize, and want to be affiliated with the hundreds of companies that offer commissions and rewards for promoting and selling their products, you will want to buy a domain.

Buying a domain tells these companies you are the owner and decision maker and have the right to use affiliate links and promote their products. As a domain owner you will also get better ranking within the search engines, better ranking means more traffic, more traffic equates to higher earning potential.

Learning all this, I made the decision to buy my domains over using free platforms. I host them on Wealthy Affiliate using a yearly subscription to save me money over paying monthly.

Step by step…

When I want to purchase a website I log in and go to the website manager. And Then I start brain storming my ideas for site names through the domain search option.

Unfortunately as the world of online businesses increase the available names for domains decrease. So if you have a good idea, don’t sit on it, buy the domain and then build out all your content and money making plans after. Its a small price to pay up front to insure you get the domain name that you want.

Domains range in price, there are .com .org .net to choose from. For the purpose of building an online business it is recommended that you purchase a .com domain for your website. The nice bonus is that the .com sites are usually a little less expensive.

When you put the desired domain name in the search bar all the options available to you will come up. You do want to choose something with a key word in it that relates to your site, you also want to choose something simple and too the point so that is it easy to ready and easy to type in.

You want avoid using dashes and underscores between words like a few of the options above show as available. These options use the website name you want however the dashes and underscores make it hard to type out, and therefore possibly harder for the search engine to find when people search organically for the key words associated with your website.

Once you have chosen a domain that you want to build your business with you add it to your cart and get ready to purchase it. The price you see is the real price for the purchase of the domain in USD. This price is for ownership of the website for one year. When you purchase the domain through Wealthy Affiliate like I do it will automatically charge your credit card every year to renew the subscription and keep you the owner of the domain name.

Once you go to the cart you will follow 4 steps to complete the purchase.

First step confirms the domain name you have chosen and the price you are about to pay.

In the second step you can choose to pay the price yearly, or you can pay for multiple years up front, at the end of the term, say you chose to pay 5 years in advance, the yearly subscription of the domain price will kick in.

Step 3 is where you put in your personal info for the ownership and registration of your domain.

The last and final step is to purchase your site with the credit card of your choice. In the future if you need to change or update the payment information it is quick and easy.

Once the purchase is complete the website domain will be registered and you are ready to go. Now once this is all set up you will be able to choose a WordPress theme that you think will best be suited for your blog niche. The creating process is of my favourite part fo the whole process, I love the set up, the detailing, and adding my own unique touch.

Once you have your platform set up you are ready to start filling it with all the pages and posts that will develop your niche site into an authority site.

Your website doesn’t rank on the search engines right away, sometimes it can take a few days. Don’t be alarmed if you don’t find your website right away. If you choose to use Wealthy Affiliate to host your websites, when your site is indexed you will receive notification of it. I have had sites index within a day or two and others have taken up to a week. Just know that once it is registered and paid for it will index.
