Planning to Build a Website

You have done alot of thinking, you have decided that you wanted to take the leap into the internet world and that you want to build a website. You have a great niche in mind, something you are passionate about and can be an authority in. You got a domain that is perfect and chose a theme for your site, now what…

Create a Plan – What do you want your site to be about? decided what pages you would want to create, start with a minimum of three, and write down 5 ideas for content for each. After that I like to brain storm idea’s for posts, at least 15-20. Yes this may see like a lot, but sometimes as your are building out your ideas you may realize your original plan wont work and you can rework some of the content ideas.

Why is this important?? Building out a website’s content takes a lot of time, time you don’t have to waste. By having a plan will help keep you on track and help you avoid having to change direction once you have already started to build out the site.

Build your list – You have your plan, you brainstormed some content ideas for your posts and pages, now we want to organize it and write it all down. I like to use the notes app on my phone so that if I get ideas while I’m away from my computer I can still add them to my list and keep it organized.

A list at first can seem overwhelming but it is a great motivator once you see yourself checking things off. It gives you a quick reference of your progress, and allows you to see when it’s time to create some more ideas for new posts and content.
